This is the sequel to H is for Humor Me. So If you’re uninterested in the alter-egos of my husband and I, skip this one. 🙂
I’ll save discussing the apparent popular distaste for certain elements/characters in Disney’s past animated films for another post. Suffice it to say for now, I’m not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Sleeping Beauty is one of those films that I still enjoy for many reasons, and one of those reasons is because the love story has enough in common with ours that it still makes me laugh. The romantic in me is shamelessly happy about this parallel story.
You see, while I was far from the hated Disney ideal personified in the perfect figure and seemingly helpless character of Aurora, I did indeed walk with my Prince Philip once upon a dream. Not an imagined Prince Charming I made up while daydreaming. It wasn’t anything I had control over. I didn’t yet know Mike. You can say it was the subconscious manifestations of a girl’s desires, but it wouldn’t be true. Some things just can’t be explained.
And, though I was reluctant to begin with, Mike did win my heart. Even if it did take more than a three minute dance sequence.
